This workshop is open to people new to NVC as well as those with experience.  For people new to NVC we suggest you read "Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life" by Marshall
Rosenberg, PhD or view the DVD 'The Basics of Nonviolent Communication'
by Marshall Rosenberg before attending.  In addition to this, we will provide a basic introduction to NVC at the start of the workshop for those who need it.

Course Description:

Do you want to take a fresh look at your relationship, past or present?  Has it lost some of the spark that it once had? Or is it in crisis?  Have you ever thought 'we've been here before'?  Has it just ended, and are you wondering what happened? Do you sense that it could give you both so much more than it currently does?

If you have answered “yes” to any of the above questions, then our relationship workshop is for you!

Intimate relationships can be one of the most challenging areas to receive others and express our needs.  Our Enriching our Relationships with Compassionate Communication week long workshop is designed to give you a safe and healing space to work through your particular relationship challenges, and learn how to express your feelings and needs clearly, so that you can relate to your partner in a deeper, more conscious way.
Within the context of this workshop we will help you explore and understand:
·    The path and stages of relationship and where you are on this path.
·    Why arguments are unavoidable in relationships, the patterns they take, and how to resolve them empathically.
·    How and why we ‘marry our unfinished business’.
·    How to stop missing and start truly connecting from the heart in communication with our partners.

Daren De Witt and Anna Finlayson are Nonviolent Communication trainers and Relationship counsellors. We have been in a relationship together for 13 years, and have been practicing NVC in our relationship for the past 9 years. We believe that our intimate relationships provide us with one of the most powerful arenas for growth as human beings and are passionate in our desire to support couples and individuals to find deeper and more life-enriching intimacy within their relationships.

At whatever stage you may be, the Compassionate Relationships workshop provides an opportunity to infuse your relationship with fresh insights, practical skills, improved communication, deeper commitment and understanding, passion and attraction.

It is so important to find, and live from, that centered place within ourselves, to connect with our own heart and with others. Compassionate Communication or Nonviolent CommunicationSM gives us the tools to create this deeper connection we are all wanting.

Our workshop provides individuals and couples with a safe, nurturing and healing environment which allows them to open to and process material usually not expressed in their daily life. We gently encourage honest expression and compassionate listening to reach deeper levels of intimacy.  We work with music, laughter and play to learn.

Facilitators: Rodger Sorrow & Anne Walton who have been sharing Nonviolent CommunicationSM (NVC) here in California and in Calgary, Alberta for years. Rodger is a certified trainer and Anne a certified trainer candidate with the Center for Nonviolent Communication.

NVC, the language of the heart, will first be taught and then couples given the opportunity to take on issues speaking strickly in NVC.  Couples will practice in triads without their partner, and then later directly with their partner with coaching from the trainer.

Two time formats are provided so that couples from around the country may attend the first day (there are very few NVC workshop anywhere just for couples) and then Chicago area couples will continue in four weekly evening sessions, so that they may practice, experiment at home, and come back for troubleshooting and further learning.

Fee: $399 per couple for the full workshop.  $199 for Saturday only.
