Course Description:

Something this wonderful is so rarely FREE!  This conference including several trainers is being sponsored by SBCC and SBRNVC and you are invited to attend.

The highly effective NonViolent Communication (NVC) process developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg has been successfully applied for several decades by countless businesses, organizations, groups, couples and individuals around the world to increase productivity, closeness and enjoyment while reducing conflicts and difficulties. Now we are pleased to present a complete weekend NVC Conference with introductory, intermediate and in-depth sessions.

The weekend begins with keynote addresses by leading internationally-recognized trainers brought in from around the US: Jori & Jim Manske,  Jeff Brown, Kit Miller, Barbara Larson and Doug Dolstad. They will join several popular local Certified NVC Trainers such as Rodger Sorrow, Liz Otterbein and others for breakout seminars and workshops. Times and topics for these sessions will be developed dynamically during the conference to ensure that participants will have an opportunity to explore the topics of greatest interest. Topics will range from introductory to advanced and specialized, with ample opportunities for interaction and dialog. Further details will be made available in free flyers and online as the date approaches.

If you have ever attended an NVC event or class, this is a rare opportunity to dramatically expand and deepen your knowledge and skills. If you are not familiar with NVC but would like to express yourself more fully and easily, be sure to attend this event and discover the power of communicating compassionately.

Course Description:

This 3 Day Retreat represents the final (5th)
of a series of retreats in our year long Integration/Leadership
Program. It is open to those who have prior NVC training (see
prerequiste below) but who are not able to commit to the year long
program for various reasons.

During this session, participants will explore and develop their leadership
and facilitation styles within the context of NVC. Some may have
long-terms goals to lead trainings or practice groups, mediate conflict
or simply introduce NVC to others in less formal settings. Participants
will select the avenues they wish to explore and through the use of
fishbowls and other groupings, have hands-on opportunities to learn and
receive valuable feedback.

Preparation:

This training would be ideal for NVC students wishing to deepen their understanding and application of NVC. Ideally you would have completed a minimum of 2 days training in NVC.

However, the training will also cater to those for whom this is their first NVC training. There will be an "intro" stream running paralell to other sessions, at the beginning of the training. Reading Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication would be a valuable preperation for this.

For experienced NVC practitioners wishing to have a deep immersion in NVC in the unique environment of the Findhorn Community, a limited number of bursury places are available on request - you would be asked to support a small group in empathic listening time once a day. Contact Leo to apply.

The skills associated with Nonviolent Communication (NVC) nurture a consciousness of compassion, strength and flexibility, inviting profound personal and social change.

In this training we explore and experience enhancing self-care, intimacy and leadership. We learn concrete skills for change in our lives and our world—peace-making and peace-building skills essential in the transition towards a global community that is sustainable, egalitarian and compassionate.

Nonviolent Communication has emerged as a vital technology for people involved, or wanting to get involved, in such change. It nurtures connection at a heart level, makes power tangible and inspires us to co-create the world we would like to live in. This is the third annual Findhorn NVC Intensive, and follows on from the visit to Findhorn in 2006 of Marshall Rosenberg, the founder of NVC. See www.FindhornNVC.org for pictures and feedback from previous years' trainings.

This workshop will be based at the Findhorn Foundation, a world renowned intentional spiritual community founded in 1962 and now at the forefront of developements in personal growth, spiritual practice, ecology and sustainability. See www.findhorn.org for more info.

Course Description:

INTRODUCTORY TRAINING: "Introduction to Compassionate Nonviolent Communication (NVC): The Language of the Heart"

DATE: Friday, February 13, 2009 (6:30 pm – 9:30 pm)

PARTICIPANTS: Open to all learning levels. Designed for people with noprior experience, and as preparation for the main workshop on February 14-15.

DESCRIPTION: Discover a life-transforming communication practice that builds trust, transforms conflict, and creates harmony in your relationships. In this session, you will learn how to create a quality of connection between yourself and others where everyone's needs, even in conflict situations, are held with care and compassion... without resorting to punishment, force, manipulation, blame or other approaches that we end up paying for later. Learn how to honor your deepest desires in every moment, and never give in or give up on your needs again.

You will learn how to:

  • hear difficult messages without taking them personally;
    express yourself honestly and openly;
  • connect with others by communicating empathy; and

  • find the gift that underlies all blame, judgment and criticism.

INTERMEDIATE TRAINING:  "Compassion is an Inside Job: Using the Gifts of NVC to Transform Self-Judgment to Self-Appreciation"

DATES:  Saturday, February 14 (9:30 am – 5:30 pm) and Sunday, February 15 (9:30 am - 5:30 pm), 2009

PARTICIPANTS: Designed for people with some previous NVC experience (such as Friday's introductory session)

DESCRIPTION: Join us for a special opportunity to deepen your practice of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), focusing on cultivating inner peace. This is an intermediate-level training, so we request that participants have previous training experience with NVC (such as Friday evening's introductory session).

You have Nonviolent Communication in your toolbox. You understand how it works. You even have a few peak experiences that have instilled hope in you that it's possible to step out of long-term patterns of self-blame and judgment, and into self-acceptance and empowerment.

Yet, more often that you would like, you are frustrated because you have been unable to access it when you need it the most. For example, even though you have been exposed to another way, you continue to beat yourself up, which creates inner resentment and internal confusion.

This training is designed with these challenges in mind, and to help everyone deepen their practice of NVC at the level of both practicality and consciousness. Join us to make NVC more a part of your everyday life-- a way of being -- that assists you in transforming whatever patterns of thinking, speaking, and listening that prevent you from experiencing a deep and abiding level of self-appreciation.

Topics will include:

  • The power of self-empathy to come alive in any situation;

  • Turning compassion loose inside ourselves to become more self-reliant;

  • Forgiving ourselves fully when we regret something we did or said;

  • Learning from our mistakes through compassion and without losing self-respect;

  • Resolving inner conflicts, for example when it appears that we have competing needs;

  • Identifying and transforming core beliefs that exist below our awareness; and

  • Nurturing ourselves through self-appreciation and self-nurturing.

COST: Introduction (Friday only): $35/personMain Workshop (Sat. and Sun.): $200/person

WAYS TO REDUCE YOUR FEE:

  • Register for all 3 days and save $10 ($225 total);
  • Earlybird discount (by January 16) for Sat./Sun: $175 (save $25), or all 3 days: $195 (save $30);

Some of the topics we will be covering:

* Show how abundance is a natural and intrinsic part of NVC consciousness;
* Differentiate money (a common strategy) from abundance (underlying state of consciousness), and how each plays out in our everyday lives;
* Facilitate healing work around core beliefs about money;
* Strengthen your ability to earn a sustainable living by sharing NVC;
* Introduce concepts from the gift economy;
* Help you bring about the state of abundance in your personal life and activities in the world; and
* Teach concrete strategies for creating more abundance through NVC-related activities.

We also intend for this retreat to be a catalyst for creating support groups and/or support communities to help people achieve abundance in their NVC-related activities.

Course Description:

TITLE:  The Dance of Compassionate Communication:  Nonviolent Communication Dance Floors and The Art of Facilitating Groups

This training is designed for people with a minimum of 2-4 days of NVC training experience (or by agreement of facilitators).

BASIC DESCRIPTION: (more to be added in early 2009)
Deepen your practice of Nonviolent Communication using the NVC Dance Floors. Incorporating movement, visual and kinesthetic learning, the Dance Floors are spatial floor maps that people move through to experience and
integrate various NVC processes.

There are 2 tracks for this intermediate training: 1) personal learning & healing; 2) developing facilitation &
coaching skills. Gain fluency in each of the 7 dances; experience a novel & creative learning tool; develop your skills, range of styles and confidence facilitating groups; develop awareness and subtlety for coaching others in
NVC processes and using Dance Floors.

We are also excited to share several developments for this year's event, the third annual in Ohio:

1.  This year's event will be 4 days (rather than 3), allowing more time and space for practicing and learning the Dance Floors;

2.  It will be at a retreat center, allowing people to stay overnight if they wish (local people can choose to commute).  Our experience is that this supports depth, builds deeper bonds of connection, and is simply more fun!

3.  We will have expanded options for learning the Art of Facilitation, both as they relate to the Dance Floors and sharing NVC in general.  We anticipate people from around North America joining us, ranging from NVC trainers and facilitators, practice group leaders, as well as people who want to integrate NVC into their personal lives;

4.  The event will be hosted and supported by several members of the growing Cincinnati NVC community, led by Allen Feibelman, who attended the June 2008 Dance Floors event in Columbus.

   We invite you to save-the-date so that you can join us next September.  We are still clarifying details for the event such as tuition requests, room and board fees, and exact start and end times, and we will announce these sometime in the near future... but meanwhile, we wanted you to be the first to know!

   If you have any questions or input about this year's retreat, for now please direct them to Jeff Brown.

REGISTRATION:  Tuition is $395 during the earlybird period (until July 24), and $450 after July 24, plus a room and board fee TBA.  While we encourage participants to stay on-site, there is a commuting option that includes lunch and dinner.
